Transfer ~ A do-it-yourself novella Chapter 3

Recap: After colliding with Aiden, Aurora starts to wonder about his apparent moodiness. What is really going on??

The nurse stalked out of the room in search of a fresh roll of gauze. It was barely five minutes into first period and the nurse’s office was already jam-packed with bruises and contusions of all sorts.  Aurora sat on the edge of the nearest cot which two students already occupied.  Out of the corner of her eye she spied Lulu.

“What are you doing here?” she said as she scooted over to her.

“I’m looking for you, duh!   Someone said they saw you bleeding in the hall so I came here.  Anyway, that’s not important; what is important is that I heard there was going to be a huge party!  It’s supposed to be at the quarter back’s house but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.”  Lulu’s eyes widened to the size of ripe cherries.

“I don’t want to go to a party Lu.  I have a huge test I need to study for, a party is the last thing I need,” Aurora said, a bit agitated.

“But I was thinking, you can ask Aiden!”

“About that… I don’t think things are going so well in that department.  I think I’m just going to give up, he doesn’t seem to like me at all.”

The nurse marched back into the room and upon noticing Lulu had no severe injuries, sent her back to class with a disapproving look.  After the nurse looked Aurora over, slapped a Band-Aid on her nose and gave her something for the pain, she also sent her back to class.  The rest of the day was filled with bloody nose tissue and utter embarrassment.  The only thing Aurora had heard that day was about  the party at the quarterback’s house.  Instead of walking home with Lulu, Aurora headed towards the public library.  By the time she got there it was dark thanks to the messed up winter time change.  After warming up for a few moments inside the door, she booked it towards the back of the library.  Before sitting down at a study table, Aurora decided to check if there were any new books in the sci-fi/fantasy section; this is where she made a huge mistake.   Standing in the middle of the aisle with wearing a blood soaked shirt, was Aiden Nero…
