Forty students performed and listened to one another’s original poetry and music, at the Creative Writing Club’s open MIC in Ms. Patricia Noble’s classroom on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.
Founded in 1992 (!) by Ms. Noble herself, the club is still going strong. “It is open to all students to write, express themselves, and listen for inspiration,” said Ms. Noble. What inspired her to start the club? “A poet feels and thinks profoundly in language and images from the soul and spirit to communicate. I teach creative writing and I felt there should be a club to expand creativity among students.” Has a student who’s been in the club ever had a piece published? “Yes, I’ve had students published in journals,” says Ms. Noble.
So whether you write poetry, fiction or non-fiction, plays or graphic novels, meet with like-minds who share your creative interest. Since the event was such great success, the club plans another open MIC for December 14. Lookout for the flyer for more information or come the club meetings, Tuesdays in W253 at Brookside after school.
